The world says our lives need to be shiny, perfect, reel-ready, & on-trend.
It says bland is the ordinary.
But what is ordinary can often be the sweetest.
I choose ordinary when it means more time with my family.
I choose ordinary when it means more time with my husband.
I choose ordinary when it means more time with my daughter.
If ordinary means less expensive & less stress over bills, then I’ll choose it.
If ordinary means sitting quietly, enjoying the soft morning sunlight while listening to soft baby babbles, then I’ll choose it.
If ordinary means cooking food favorites in a well-worn, well-loved kitchen, then I’ll choose it.
If ordinary means handpicking fruits & veggies from plants I’ve tended on my own over the years, enjoying them fresh, & passing on gardening secrets to my children & friends, then I’ll choose it.
Unkempt beds, cozy blankets, good books, the white-noise murmur of the fan, savory smells of dinner cooking, comfy clothes, laughter, giggles, playtime, puppy snuggles, rolling on the carpet, adventures in the woods, hard work, rough hands, sweet hugs, quiet time in God’s Word, a room temp cup of coffee, messes & memories.
If all of these things are ordinary, then I choose ordinary over fabulous every day of the week.
The word says our lives need to be shiny, perfect, reel-ready, & on-trend.
I say it can be ordinary.
And what is ordinary is most beautiful of all.
Be blessed, friends.
